Genesis 32-33

Genesis 32:27-28 NKJV

So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” [28] And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”

Genesis 33:8-9 NKJV

Then Esau said, “What do you mean by all this company which I met?” And he said, “These are to find favor in the sight of my lord.” [9] But Esau said, “I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”

Before any change in our circumstance, God wrestles with the condition of our heart, and changes us as we conform to His ways by renewing our minds in His word.

Personally, I’ve learned the difference between who is God, what He alone can do and who man is and what we a sorely are not capable of, that in my weakness, His strength is made perfect, that it is better to put my hope and trust in God than my own strength and abilities; as God-given as they may be.

As it says in Matthew 6:33, I have learnt to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and as with Jacob’s experience with Esau in Genesis 38, “when a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” (Proverbs 16:7).
