Genesis 22

Genesis 22:11 NKJV

But the Angel of the LORD called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” So he said, “Here I am.”

We believe that “the Angel of the Lord” is none other than the Word, who was with God, and was God. The same Word that according to the Gospel of John (1:1-14) became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth, whom we call Jesus.

Though the Lord asks us to give up something, as He asked Abraham to sacrifice what he cherished the most,  we read in Psalm 139:5 that the Lord has hedged us behind and before, And laid His hand upon us. As King David said in Psalm 141:8 let our eyes be upon the Lord; In Him I take refuge.

I have understood that God will not leave my soul destitute as I take refuge in Him. He always rescues me. All I have to say is as Abraham said, “Here I am”

Psalm 144:15 NKJV Happy are the people who are in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is the LORD!

Genesis 22:15-17 NKJV Then the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of heaven, [16] and said: “By Myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son- [17] blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies.
