Day 41

What does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Romans 4:3 MEV

Do you really believe? If Abraham’s faith is examined, we will find that believing demands obedience. Though the following scripture is talking about Adam vs Jesus, we can understand the importance of obedience. For just as through one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One the many will be made righteous. Romans 5:19 MEV

And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith that he had while being uncircumcised, so that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they are uncircumcised, that righteousness might be credited to them also, Romans 4:11 MEV

Just like circumcision functioned as a seal in the Old Testament, the indwelling and the infilling of the Holy Spirit is a seal in the New Testament.

He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, Romans 4:20 MEV

Renew your mind!

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we also have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and so we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also boast in tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces patience, patience produces character, and character produces hope. And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Romans 5:1-5 MEV

Tribulation > patience > character > hope. Hope does not disappoint because of the love of God, His amazing grace, which we have access to by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. It is not at all complicated if we meditate on these verses.

For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, how much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by His life. Romans 5:10 MEV

A word study on the word enemies and its meaning in the NT will be fruitful for you. The Blue Letter Bible (BLB) is a free resource. It is freely available online. I have a licensed offline version. Ask if you need one.

For the death He died, He died to sin once for all, but the life He lives, He lives to God. Likewise, you also consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:10-11 MEV

Amen.

But thanks be to God, for you were slaves of sin, but you have obeyed from the heart that form of teaching to which you were entrusted, and having been freed from sin, you became the slaves of righteousness. Romans 6:17-18 MEV

Though the word slave is oppressive in our society, this word is important in understanding our true nature.
