Day 26

‘“Truly, truly I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up some other way, is a thief and a robber. ‘ John 10:1 MEV

A thief and a robber. A robber is one who robs; in law, one who feloniously takes goods or money from the person of another by violence or by putting him in fear. A bandit, dacoit etc. A thief is one who steals another person’s property, especially by stealth and without using force or violence. Deception, subterfuge, delusion.

Though Jesus is talking about Satan and the forces of darkness, this can also be understood as people who call themselves Christians. There is no glorification without salvation and sanctification. No shortcuts.

Yet they will never follow a stranger, but will run away from him. For they do not know the voice of strangers.” John 10:5 MEV

True sheep

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. But he who is a hired hand, and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and runs away. So the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.John 10:11-12 MEV

Hired, the love of money, get it? Is money your motive, the reason you serve God?

The Feast of the Dedication was at Jerusalem, and it was winter. John 10:22 MEV

Yet another feast

I give them eternal life. They shall never perish, nor shall anyone snatch them from My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them from My Father’s hand. My Father and I are one.” John 10:28-30 MEV

Two hands, one body.

Then Thomas, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us go also, that we may die with Him.” John 11:16 MEV

Zeal without knowledge.

Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. John 11:21 MEV

I have said this myself, in that I have said to myself had I met Jesus in the flesh, He would have heard me and healed me from this. This thought is not only depressing but I found it more devastating than the stroke. It was then that the Lord began to talk to me about healing. Be clear that I did not accuse God of being deaf not did I lack understanding of me being the temple of the Holy Spirit, but this path would have led to that.

His disciples did not understand these things at first. But when Jesus was glorified, they remembered that these things were written about Him and that they had done these things to Him. John 12:16 MEV

Again a good example of how the disciples themselves understood the difference between the natural and the spiritual in stages.

And if I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all men to Myself.” John 12:32 MEV

Jesus speaks about His crucifixion, and not about a method of preaching the Gospel.
