Day 19

‘I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”’ Luke 13:5

Sin is sin, get right with God. In all your getting, get understanding.

‘“He answered him, ‘Sir, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you shall cut it down.’ ”’ Luke 13:8-9

A pastor’s prayer? Ponder the path that people foolishly take…

‘But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, and said to the people, “There are six days in which men ought to work. Therefore come and be healed on those days, but not on the Sabbath day.”’ Luke 13:14

We might mourn at this sort of bruised ego leading to unrighteous indignation, but the ways of a man are evident to the eyes of the Lord. If I were to humble myself, how will my ways be considered by Him who also measures my motives?

‘It is like yeast, which a woman took and hid in sixty pounds of meal until all of it was leavened.” ‘ Luke 13:21

Yeast. Three meals. Selah!

‘“But He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know you, or where you come from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’’ Luke 13:27

Don’t abuse your God given power and authority. Fear of the Lord is to hate evil.

‘“But He will say, ‘I tell you, I do not know you, or where you come from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’’ Luke 13:27

Why Fox?

‘and you will be blessed, for they cannot repay you. You shall be repaid at the resurrection of the just.”’ Luke 14:14

More blessed to give.

‘For I tell you, none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’ ”’ Luke 14:24

Wisdom requires understanding for this passage to serve as instruction. The righteousness of the upright delivers; Jesus delivers. Be blameless.

‘And whoever does not bear his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.’ Luke 14:27

This is a hard saying, impossible without being filled with the Holy Spirit. Don’t follow frivolity!

‘“Salt is good. But if the salt has lost its saltiness, how shall it be made salty? ‘ Luke 14:34

The tongue of the righteous, the feet that are beautiful, the light that shines in great darkness.

‘Now all the tax collectors and sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. But the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”’ Luke 15:1-2

To seek and to save the lost.
