The Making of Heavens & The Earth

2021 01 17

Exodus 20:11 (NKJV)  For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

  • God created the heaven, the earth, plants, animals and man in six days
  • He rested on the seventh day
  • Belief, obedience, know the heart of God – last week
  • A series on relationship with God

Genesis Chapter One

  1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
    1. God
    2. Heavens – spirit – energy
    3. Earth – natural – carbon

God

The Hebrew word for “God,” Elohim, is grammatically plural, but does not indicate a numerical plural (i.e., “gods”).

In the Old Testament, four words are translated as the English word “God”.

Those words are El, Elah, Elo’ah, and Elohim. The generic term Elohim refers to the one true God.

However, it is also used for

  1. The gods of the mighty council (Psa. 82:1b, 6)

Psalm 82:1 (NKJV)  God (elohiym) stands in the congregation of the mighty (el) ; He judges among the gods (elohiym).

  2. Gods of various nations: Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the demon God of Moab and Milcom, the god of the Ammonites

1 Kings 11:33 (NKJV)  because they have forsaken Me, and worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess (elohiym) of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god (elohiym) of the Moabites, and Milcom the god (elohiym) of the people of Ammon, and have not walked in My ways to do what is right in My eyes and keep My statutes and My judgments, as did his father David.

  3. Demons [shedim] (Deut 32:17)

Deuteronomy 32:17 (NKJV)  They sacrificed to demons (shed), not to God (Elo’ah), To gods (elohiym) they did not know, To new gods, new arrivals That your fathers did not fear.

4) Disembodied human dead (1 Sam 28:13)

1 Samuel 28:13 (NKJV)  And the king said to her, “Do not be afraid. What did you see?” And the woman said to Saul, “I saw a spirit (elohiym) ascending out of the earth.”

We have to ask: Is this a declaration that only one God created everything, or was it a pantheon of Gods that did the creating?

Genesis 2:4 (NKJV)  This is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD (Yehovah) God (Elohim) made the earth and the heavens,

As we have learned, the Hebrew words Elohim is applied to something other than the true and living God.

There is, however, one name that is unique to the God of the Bible. Our Heavenly Father reveals Himself in the Old Covenant as Yehowah/Jehovah/Yahweh, the first mention of this name, here stated as the only creator.

From the Israelite standpoint the oneness of the true Deity is never in question.

In Dt 6:4 “The Lord,” that is, Yahweh the God of Israel, is called “our Elohim,” and declared to be “One.”

Deuteronomy 6:4 (NKJV)  “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!

The Bible doesn’t even come close to teaching that there exists an assemblage of equal and sovereign “gods.”

Please be very clear about this.

  • In Hebrew Scriptures, this name is recorded as YHWH.
  • Ancient Hebrew did not use vowels in its written form.
  • The appropriate vowel sounds of words were passed down orally.
  • As a result, when ancient Hebrew is studied, scholars and linguists often do not know with absolute confidence how certain Hebrew words were pronounced.
  • This is the reason that the pronunciation of YHWH, also known as the tetragrammaton, is still not universally agreed upon.
  • Some prefer “Yahweh” (YAH-way); others prefer “Yehowah” or “Yahuweh”; still others argue for “Jehovah.”

Isaiah 42:8 (KJV)  I am the LORD (Yĕhovah): that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Philippians 2:5-11 (NKJV)
5  Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6  who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7  but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11  and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Heavens and the earth

The Jews understood that God had two families. God’s family in heaven and on earth, the upper and lower families. This is confirmed in the New testament.

Ephesians 3:14-16 (NKJV) [14]  For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, [15]  from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, [16]  that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,

Job 38:4-7 (NKJV) 4  “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5  Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it? 6  To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7  When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Psalm 148:1-2 (NKJV) 1  Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; Praise Him in the heights! 2  Praise Him, all His angels; Praise Him, all His hosts!

Psalm 103:19-22 (NKJV) 19  The LORD has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. 20  Bless the LORD, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. 21  Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. 22  Bless the LORD, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!

1 Samuel 17:45 (NKJV)  Then David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Acts 12:13-16 (NKJV) 13  And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. 14  When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. 15  But they said to her, “You are beside yourself!” Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, “It is his angel.”
16  Now Peter continued knocking; and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.

1 Corinthians 2:6-16 (NKJV) 6  However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8  which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9  But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10  But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11  For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12  Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13  These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14  But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15  But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16  For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

God has two families. Various Bible translations render this as “the council of Elohim,” “the great assembly,” “heaven’s court,” “the divine council,” and “the assembly of El.” The heavenly council is also rendered in English translations as “His own congregation,” “the congregation of the mighty,” “the assembly of God”, “the assembly of the angels,” “the hosts of heaven,” “the heavenly host,”, “the company of God,” or “watchers”.

The Creation Condensed

  1. Day 1God created light and separated the light from the darkness, calling light “day” and darkness “night.”
  2. Day 2God created an expanse to separate the waters and called it “sky.”
  3. Day 3God created the dry ground and gathered the waters, calling the dry ground “land,” and the gathered waters “seas.” On day three, God also created vegetation (plants and trees).
  4. Day 4God created the sun, moon, and the stars to give light to the earth and to govern and separate the day and the night. These would also serve as signs to mark seasons, days, and years.
  5. Day 5God created every living creature of the seas and every winged bird, blessing them to multiply and fill the waters and the sky with life.
  6. Day 6God created the animals to fill the earth. On day six, God also created man and woman (Adam and Eve) in his own image to commune with him. He blessed them and gave them every creature and the whole earth to rule over, care for, and cultivate.
  7. Day 7God had finished his work of creation and so he rested on the seventh day, blessing it and making it holy.

Two Critical Discoveries

  1. We have in our possession an Integrated Message System consisting of 66 separate books penned by 40 different individual authors over thousands of years…in which every detail is anticipated by deliberate, skillful, design!
  2. And which demonstrates that its origin is from outside our time domain.

One Integrated Design:

  • The New Testament is in the Old Testament concealed
  • The Old Testament is in the New Testament revealed. — Augustine
  • Jesus Christ proclaimed and explained the Kingdom of God – God’s rule over all things.
