Sticks and Stones

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never harm me.

  • This children’s rhyme in English.
  • This is not true.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21, NKJV)

Before weapons training, we must identify our weapons.

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,” (2 Corinthians 10:4, NKJV)

Thought patterns, here they are based on lies.

  • Towel example

Strongholds based on lies lead to sadness, depression.

  • Can open a door to suicide.

God did not create us to be sad.

  • The Joy of the Lord is our strength.

The truth you know will set you free.

Adam had a problem even before he fell.

“So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.” (Genesis 2:20, NKJV)

Since it is not good that he should be alone: (Gen 2:18).

“Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.” (Genesis 2:22, NKJV)

Why was it not good for man to be alone?

  • Though we can guess that it is loneliness, we don’t know for sure.
  • Whatever the reason was, it hindered Adam from doing his mission from God.

“Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”” (Genesis 1:28, NKJV)

  • To subdue, you need power and authority,
  • We need weapons to enforce that power and authority.
  • God supplies all our needs.
  • One weapon is woman and the unity that God gives.

“Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.” (1 Peter 3:7, NKJV)

It is the other “weapon” that I want to point out today.

  • We don’t realize that it is a weapon.
  • We take it for granted.

That weapon is our tongue.

In other words, our words.

  • Death and life are in the power of the tongue.

“Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!” (James 3:4–5, NKJV)

All other creation has a form of communication.

  • Dogs bark, Cats meow, Birds Chirp etc

But no other created being has the power and authority to create.

  • For Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.

Not even Satan can create.

  • We do that using our God given weapon; our tongue.

Matthew 12:36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

But there is a problem.

“And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.” (James 3:6–10, NKJV)

No man can tame the tongue because it is not the tongue that needs discipline or taming.

“Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” (Matthew 12:34, NKJV)

  • Remember, the devil is the father of lies John 8:44

“But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.” (Matthew 5:37, NKJV)

  • The content of your heart dictates what the tongue speaks.

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (James 4:4, NKJV)

  • This need not be so.

“Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”” (2 Corinthians 6:17, NKJV)

This is a weapon that helps us overcome!

  • Using faith

We suffer because we don’t use it.

  • We don’t use this weapon to enforce our power and authority.
  • Not only that, by taking it for granted, we abuse it, we lie.

How can we overcome?

  • Usually by the word I have preached or
  • by the remembrance of the word that you have read,
  • as guided by the Holy Spirit
  • based totally on the word of God.

When you have overcome,

  • through the word that authorizes the word of God,
  • Jesus moves into the problem, that situation.

“And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:31, NKJV)

It starts with your tongue.

  • Therefore, renew you mind.
  • Get right with God, align with Him, for He does not condemn you.
  • Your faith will not fail, when you overcome, strengthen others.
  • Have the mind of Jesus Christ.

“For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 2:16, NKJV)

Hallelujah.

When I was in kindergarten,

I think on the third day or the fourth day, they taught me this rhyme.

It goes like this, “Stinks and stones may break my bones,

but words will never harm me.”

So I thought I’d try to guide all the teaching but it was the beginning of this, by the way.

What I’m here to tell you is that this is not true.

Stinks and stones may break my bones,

but words will never harm me. That is not true.

Actually, words can harm us.

More than sticks and stones can.

Proverbs 18 21,

says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

When it talks about the power of the tongue, it talks about the words that you use.

Now,(…) before any weapons training,

you’re taught to identify what a weapon is.

Most of you know what a gun looks like.(…) Most of you know what a sword looks like.

You know what weapons look like.

But there is a card-given weapon that none of us acknowledge or think that it is a weapon.

So before weapons training, we must identify our weapons.

That is important. You must know this is a weapon.

Otherwise, you play with a gun and shoot somebody,

and, “Oh, I didn’t know this was going to happen.”

To understand,(…) you must know what is a weapon.

If you go to 2 Corinthians 10 4,

it says, “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but the mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.”

The mighty where?(…) In God. It may seem foolish,(…) or foolishness, to those who are not of God.

You take thought patterns, for example.

By strongholds,(…) it’s talking about thought patterns that you have.(…) Some people associate a color with a certain pattern of thinking.

I’m not saying that as a stronghold, but as a stronghold,

your beliefs are based on lies.

If I were to throw a towel on your head, you would take it off, because you know that I have thrown a towel on your head.

But if I could be so busy with the worries of your life,(…) with the so-called entertainment and distractions of the world,

I’m able to put that towel on your head,(…) and you would think it’s part of your head. How will I do it? How does the devil do that?

The red by the red.

When the devil puts one in the red, you’ll notice something is not there. But I accept it. You think you’re all good.

And then, there’s a danger when you think you’re all good, because the devil puts another thread, and pretty soon, over the years, you will have a towel on your head.

And you won’t realize that it is foreign. You think it’s part of you. You will think this thought pattern is you,(…) not foreign to you. You won’t even know what is right from wrong.

That is a strong role.

And a strong role based on lies can lead to sadness in your life. The thief comes to what? Steal, kill and destroy.

This sadness can lead to depression and will lead to depression, if left untouched.

And this depression can open a door to suicide.

God did not create us to be sad.

When I was growing up, there was a cartoon strip, a comic strip called “Sad Sack.”

That was entertainment.

But that is not how God created us. He did not create evil made to be sad.

The joy of the Lord is our strength.

And yet, many of you walk around like sad sacks.(…) But here’s what happens when you know the truth. The truth you know will set you free. John 8, the rejuicist said, “Amen, Amen.”

Let’s go all the way back to Adam.

Adam had a problem.

He had a problem before he fell.

Interesting. That was not even before that he had a problem.

Yes?

But you want to know the problem he had?

Let’s go by the face of it. Genesis 2.20.

So Adam gave names to all cattle,(…) to the boats of the air, to every beast of the field. But for Adam, there was not found help comparable to him.

That was his problem, yes?

Nothing could help him. I’ll get to that. But remember,(…) God said it is not good that Adam should be alone, yes?

In Genesis 2.18 it says that.

So to solve this problem,(…) God did something about it. He created Eve. Not Steve, Eve, yes? He coded Genesis 2.22. “And the girl which the Lord God had taken from man, he made it to a woman and he bordered to the man.” So why was it not good for Adam to be alone?

Remember, we need to know the weapons of our warfare.

And in everything in the Old Testament is for us to learn.

Do you understand?

Though we can guess that it was loneliness,(…) we do know for sure what his problem was. Yes? We do not. Come to a 95% conclusion that it was because he was alone. So because to solve that God made a woman, yes?(…) But whatever the reason was, this is what I want you to understand.

It hindered Adam from doing his mission from God.

What was his mission from God?(…) To subdue the earth.

So to do his mission, it was not good for man to be alone. So God created a weapon called Eve.

Let’s go to Genesis 1.28.(…) “Then God blessed them and God said to them, “Beat fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue them.” Who did he say that to?(…) Him or them? Them. Or generally Adam had chapters for it.

He was not made. So you speak to him, yes?

Does it joke? But I am not going to tell you the joke. I care about this. But it said, “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish and the sea, over the birds of the earth, over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

So to subdue something, you need power.

You need to be stronger than what you subdue, yes? And on top of that, you need authority, yes?

Just because you have power and you don’t have authority, you can’t do anything. If you have authority and no power,(…) do you understand, yes?

So we weapons to enforce that power and authority.

Yes, a policeman has a weapon, it’s called a gun, yes?

So he has the power and the authority, the gun gives him both.

If you mess with that, you talk to the bullet, yes?(…) You shouldn’t do the bulletments, yes?

Do you understand?

Now God supplies all our needs, yes? So when he created Adam and Eve, he created them perfect and fulfilled all their needs, yes?(…) So one weapon that mankind had was each other.

For Adam, it was a woman.(…) For Eve, it was Adam, yes? So one weapon is a woman and the unity that God gives us, you break that unity,(…) you will be powerless.

How do I know this? The Bible tells me exactly that, quote 1 Peter 3-7.

Husbands, likewise, tell them with understanding, giving honor to the wife as to the weaker wrestle, as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be endured.

Do you understand that, yes? I am just using one side of the examples because this is not what I want to talk about, but you need to understand that there needs to be unity in a family, in a church, yes?

But it is another weapon that I want to point out or highlight today.

We don’t realize that this is a weapon.

We take it for granted, and that weapon is our tongue.

In other words,(…) our words.

We already know and understand that death and life are in the power of the tongue, yes?

Go to James 3, 4 and 5.

Look also at the ships, although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot decides. Even so, the tongue is a little member and most great things. See how great a forest, a little fire, catacles.

Meaning, all it takes is a small fire to set the whole forest on fire.

That is what the tongue is like getting to.

Do you understand?

All other creatures, everything is made by God.

They have a form of communications.

Communication.

For example, did you know that dogs bark, yes? Because when I came to your house, I could hear the dogs bark a mile away, yes?

Do you understand? If you come to my house, you will hear all the cats in the neighborhood meowing, yes?

What do the birds do? They chirp.(…) They have a form of communication.

When the children parents give birth, if you happen to be there, they will show you the baby.

That is a form of communication.

You say, “Ah, man, go pet that baby and beat you up, yes?” You hear somebody in that thing because they think you are making harm for that baby. But do you understand?

But no other creation, no other created being has the power and authority to create.

We are created in the greatest image.

The dogs cannot create their lunch, but we can create food. I have seen it happen. Do you understand?

And this is why for Adam, there was not found a helper comparable to him.

Do you understand?(…) Not even Satan can create.(…) All he can do is duplicate.

And he is good at that.(…) Forgeries.

If there is an anomaly, he will duplicate that, yes?

We create by using our God-given weapon on top. This is why it says in Matthew 12, 36,

“But I say to you, Jesus is saying that for every word, every other word many speak, they will give a call of error in the day of judgment.”

That means what? What comes out of your mouth means something.

You just don’t say “I” in words because you will be accountable for that, yes?

But there is a problem. Go to James 3, 6 to 10.

“And the tongue is a fire, a world of inequity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body,

and it sets on fire the course of nature, and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird of reptile and creature of the sea is tamed and has been tamed by mankind, but no man can tame the tongue.(…) It is an unruly evil full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father,(…) and with it we curse men,(…) who have been made the similar toot of God.

In what? In the likeness of God, comparable to God. Yes, until the same mouth proceeds blessings and cursing. My brethren, these things are not to be sold.

Before you want help, you must want to be helped.

Otherwise there is no point because the truth won’t set you free.

You must want that teleference.

For that you must know you need teleference. You think you feel alright?

There is a door.

I know that I am not alright.

And God perfects that which concerns me.

Do you understand? Yes? So the biggest thing,(…) biggest lie the devil can bring to humans is(…) saying that he doesn’t exist.

And the biggest lie can tell you and me as a Christian is saying we are alright, we don’t need to come here.

Totally delivered.

We are working progress.

And it’s no shame.

To have demons cast our eye is better than having them as your pet demons.

Hallelujah.

See,(…) the Bible says no man can tame the tongue. Yes? Why is that?

Because it’s not the tongue that needs discipline or taming. If Steve were to hit me, naturally I would hit him back but would I say Steve hit me or his hand hit me?

Steve hit me, yes? Why?(…) Because Steve decided his hand should hit me, yes? So do I hit his hand or do I hit Steve? I am just saying I won’t hit him ever.

Do you understand?(…) The discipline,(…) I am using a good example.

Three weeks advice, you surely, now I am using Steve.(…) Steve were you in surely? No, no, no. Are you born there?(…) I don’t answer that, yes? But do you understand? No man can tame the tongue, yes? Because it’s not the tongue that needs taming.

You try taming that tongue, yes, you will fail.

Even the Holy Spirit, if you say, “Tame my tongue, agree my tongue, la la la la la la la la.”

Holy Spirit says, “I will see you in your tongue, yes?” Because it’s not your tongue that needs discipline for taming. How do I do this again through scripture? Let’s go to Matthew 12, 34.(…) Prove the five push.(…) Who said this?(…) Jesus said this. How can you be able to speak? Good things. For out of the abundance of heart, the mouth speaks.

So, is your tongue responsible or your mouth responsible?

Your mouth is responsible and out of the abundance of what is in your heart, your mouth speaks, yes?

So, do I tame the tongue or do I tame the heart?

Ha, I tame the heart. Do you understand what feeds the heart the mind does?(…) That’s why you need to renew your mind, yes?

But you’re jumping ahead. Remember, the devil is the father of life, yes?

This mouth is red.(…) If I say it’s black, I’m lying.(…) Because it’s red.

But if God sees it’s black, guess what? You don’t black because he cannot fly. But the devil is the father of all lives.(…) Do you understand, yes?

So,(…) let your yes go to Matthew 5, 37. See, when you think of all this and you consider all this, this takes on another meaning.

But let your yes be yes and your no-no for whatever is more than these is from the evil one.

Harlandia,(…) the devil is the father of life, yes?(…) So, let your yes be yes. Don’t tell him, “I’m on my way. You’re sitting in front of me.”

I’ve done this before. Somebody has done this, I think, give me your phone. The person who’s sitting in front of me is not on his way. He’s lying to you. I gave the one back.

Don’t do that and don’t sit with people who are lying also.

Don’t be part of their life. Don’t understand. Why are the bastards, therefore I’m telling the truth.

Nonsense.

See, the content of our heart dictates what the tongue speaks.

Do you understand, yes? The tongue is just a tool. So, let your hand is a tool.

Do you understand?(…) Internet, for example, is a tool.(…) It can be used for good, it can be used for bad.

Like that, your tongue is a tool. What do James 4 form?

Adulters and adultresses,(…) do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God?

Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

So, where is your heart? With the world or with God? If you’re with the world, you are an enemy of God. How can you then have the power of God?

People who say that are fooling themselves.

But here’s the thing, this need not be so.(…) Go to 2 Corinthians 6 and 10. Therefore, come out from among them and we separate, say, so Lord, do not touch what is uncle and after that I will receive you.(…) Come out.(…) Do you understand? So,(…) this is the weapon that helps us come out and helps us overcome using faith.

We suffer because we don’t use it.

We don’t use this weapon to enforce our power and authority.

Not only that, but taking it for granted, we abuse it.

We lie with a tongue.(…) How can that have power?(…) If that had power,(…) a lot of donkeys would be drugging their cars now.

Because that’s how I used to bless people long time ago before I became a pastor.

Do you understand?(…) I found God I didn’t have the authority to convert them into donkeys. At that time I spoke.

Do you understand? But I spoke death to a cat and it died in front of me. And I was very happy because my words are made at all.(…) I went to my pastor.(…) I said, “Wow, this is terrible.” He almost hit me. I said, “We are not called to take life but to give life.”

Do you understand?(…) It is easy to take life, but can you give life?

Do you understand? We need to speak from life into where there is death. How can you have that kind of power when you use your tongue to lie?

This is a weapon that we have, that helps us overcome. Yes?

How can you overcome?(…) Usually by the word that I have preached.

Faith comes by what? Hearing the word, yes? By the remembrance of the word that you have read also.

As guided by the Holy Spirit,(…) based totally on the word of God. It’s very simple.

Know your Bible.(…) Get right with God.(…) But your Bible next to it there has to be an equal sign. Before I thought the sign was just approximate.(…) No, that’s not what God says. God says be perfect because I am perfect.

There has to be an equal sign for today. What is today? 25th of June, yes?

I can put that equal sign because today I am perfect with God.

That may not be the case tomorrow when I look back and I can be more perfect. Keep perfect that which concerns us. But for today, have you sharpened your axe or are you just going around like a fool?

What does the fool say? There is no God, yes?

Do you understand? So it has to be guided by the Holy Spirit based totally on the word of God.

And when you have overcome through the word that authorizes the word of God,

then Jesus moves into that situation over that problem.(…) What ever the problem is, God just gives you a sample, a tip of the iceberg. I thought you were on that. Yes?(…) What you see is something you can overcome. But when you overcome through the word, you then authorize God to take care of the whole thing. Which if he presented to you, you will die properly on the spot and you will run the other way.

But when he now presents you in a sample to you, you run the other way. Oh, this is too much for me to enter.

That’s why the Bible don’t have a place in heaven.(…) You need to be bold and be strong, yes?

When the disciples prayed and the Holy Spirit came in the Book of Acts, I told Tod you that in the Bible saying what happened to them, they were filled with boldness.

Do you understand? That is what the Holy Spirit does. I have seen that.

When 30 Union people walked into my office,(…) speaking in green Malayalam,(…) God filled me with this boldness.

And I spoke to them like I have never spoken to anyone in God’s green Malayalam. Do you understand? I have seen this happen once or twice.(…) Do you understand?

So this authorizes Jesus to move into that situation. People will be strong for the Lord is with you. That is what Joshua 1.8 says.

Go to Acts 4.31. When they prayed,(…) the place where they were assembled together was shaken and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. And they spoke with the Word of God with boldness. They spoke the Word of God with boldness.

Do you understand? You don’t have boldness because you don’t pray.(…) You are not filled with the Holy Spirit.(…) That is a sign. But it starts with your tongue and you can’t tame your tongue. You tame your heart. Therefore renew your mind.

Is it logical to you? Yes.(…) Get right with God. Align with Him for He doesn’t condemn you.(…) And if you believe that God is out to get you, then you will not get right with Him.

Do you understand that? Yes.(…) Your faith will not fail.(…) Why? Because Jesus is praying for you.

He is advocate.(…) I advocate.(…) And when you overcome, not if you overcome, strengthen others.(…) Lift up the feeble hands.

Instead of saying what about me, what about me? What about me? I am only concerned about me and myself and I. There is somebody at the door. So,(…) you can, it’s okay. You sit.(…) Okay.(…) Your car moves.(…) That’s how many cars move.

Not funny, huh? Not funny.(…) Just like that. It’s not funny. What was I saying?(…) And then car moves?(…) What was I saying?

All is stolen from you.(…) What?(…) He is bold as yes.

Jesus is an advocate if you are filled with condemnation.

Maybe the devil tricks you into that. And that maybe why it was not good for Adam to be alone. Because I know that once one girl came to my attention to the ministry and she was complaining about this bastard. Being a man, my heart reached out to her. I called. She said,(…) she is lying.(…) There is something wrong with this.(…) I didn’t see a kid behind me, Satan to Adam. What did I do? I called up that pastor. I said, in front of me, he is sitting this person and this person is telling me this is about you.(…) Because he is a pastor. I am a pastor.(…) Do you understand? And then this pastor started for half an hour. He was telling me what all they did to help her.(…) And then finally he tells me keep her with you.(…) And when she is okay, then send her back to me.(…) That is a pastor’s heart. She was so I spoke to her. She got offended that I called that pastor.(…) And I didn’t see her anymore. That is not my problem.(…) Do you understand?(…) But that is not the case with you.(…) You will overcome. No matter what is in your past,(…) you will overcome.(…) Amen?(…) And you will have his unity. For you have the mind of Christ.

Amen? That is what the whole event of this series that we started. Remember, back in January, I said you have the mind of Christ. Yes. Let’s go to 1 Corinthians 2 16.(…) For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him. But we have the mind of Christ. How can you have the mind of Christ if you don’t have the tongue of Christ?(…) And if your father is the devil and you say you have the mind of Christ, I am not going to believe you.(…) You can say it’s an empty number of things.(…) But if the Lord tells me that is a lie,(…) I don’t care. It’s not from heaven.(…) Do you understand?

You are clear about that. You wonder why sometimes you are powerless.(…) Because you take this weapon,

your tongue for granted.(…) It’s time for us to move forward in faith.(…) Set our heart straight with him. Renew our mind with him. Then our tongue will follow. Just like the body follows who the soul obeys, your tongue will follow where your heart is renewed to.(…) Is it to the world or is it to God?(…) God says come off from the world, be separate.(…) Renew your mind.(…) Sharpen your hands. Is that clear?(…) This is why. One of the reasons that you are powerless.

If you find this true in your life,(…) then you need to understand what is said in.(…) We read this in 2 Corinthians 10.4. It says for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. Understand that you lie because of inadequacies, insecurities, all kinds of operational theatre complexes.(…) All kinds of complexes, including operational theatre. Do you understand? All kinds of complexes. But Jesus will set you free. He is our delivery.(…) He has done that for me.(…) Do you understand and he will do that for you. Let’s all stand up in the presence of the Lord.(…) Hallelujah.
