God in us

Genesis 3:15 (NKJV)  And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

The Root of Hope

It didn’t take long for our ancestors to make a mess of God’s perfect creation. And God had to inform them of the consequences of their sin. But even in the middle of God’s tough words, we find these amazing roots of hope that reveal God’s solution for our deepest need.

Here we see that God was already setting in motion a plan to defeat the enemy (strike his head) even though it would involve the pain Jesus experienced on the cross (strike his heel).

Right from the start, God was telling us that the results of sin may be terrible, but they don’t have to be terminal. God has a redemptive plan for us all; a relationship made possible only through the price Jesus paid on the cross.

It doesn’t matter how much of a mess your life might be right now, how many bad choices you’ve made in the past, or what unfair circumstances have happened to you. God, the Creator of the universe, has a redemptive plan just for you!

Let the truth of God’s grace fill your heart with hope today!

Isaiah 7:14 (NKJV)  Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23 (NKJV)  “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”

  • This is Matthew’s explanation of the meaning of Immanuel,
  • A descriptive designation of Jesus Christ or Messiah.
  • Jesus was God with us.
  • The Holy Spirit is in us.

Declaration of faith

Dear Heavenly Father, please give me a revelation of the power of the Gospel today. From this day forward, may Your grace be the foundation of my daily relationship with You.

I declare that I will be free from guilt, condemnation, and a performance mentality. I declare that I abide in faith, abound in hope, I keep myself in the love of God. I will overcome all trials, I will persevere, and develop Christ-like character by His power.

Open my heart to see the hope of my calling, to know the inheritance that I have in the saints, and to understand the depth of Your power at work in my life. Release upon me a Spirit of wisdom, revelation, and enlightenment today.

Lead me into an encounter with You that forever changes me and deepens my love for Jesus. Illuminate the truth of Your Word as You prepare my heart to receive it.

Amen.

The Promised Holy Spirit

Galatians 3:13-14 (NKJV) 13  Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14  that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

  • Jesus was God with us – the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles
  • The Holy Spirit is in us – we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Jesus was sealed with the Holy Spirit
  • Matthew 3:16 (NKJV) When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.
  • John 6:27 (NKJV) Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”
  • Jesus died and rose again,
  • Returned to the father
  • Gave us the Holy Spirit
  • John 16:7-11 (NKJV) 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8  And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9  of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10  of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11  of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
  • Romans 8:10-11 (NKJV) 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11  But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
  • We receive the Holy Spirit
  • When we put our faith in Jesus
  • His Finished work on the cross
  • When we obey God
  • Acts 2:2-4 (NKJV) 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3  Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4  And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
  • Acts 5:32 (NKJV) And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
  • We are sealed with the Holy Spirit for the day of redemption.
  • Ephesians 1:13-14 (NKJV) 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14  who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
  • Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV) And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
  • Therefore, we have a guarantee
  • 2 Corinthians 1:21-22 (NKJV) 21 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, 22  who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.
  • Romans 8:13-14 (NKJV) 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
  • Not once saved, always saved
  • You can choose to walk away.
  • Hebrews 6:4-6 (NKJV) 4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5  and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6  if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.
  • We have God in us so that we don’t fall away
  • Nothing can separate us from the love of God
    • It does not matter how we feel about it, what we did or did not do
    • God does not change.
    • If you don’t feel His love, then go towards Him,
    • Peel away the hindrances, Get right with God.
  • Romans 8:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • God in us so that we overcome
  • Matthew 6:34 (NKJV) Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
  • 1 John 4:12-13 (NKJV) 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. 13  By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
