Our Father in Heaven

2021 02 07

  1. Who the Creator God is
  2. What the Word of God
  3. What is meant by the Creation and Separation of Mankind.

The example of “Praise the Lord.”

  • Not an order!
  • Who is Lord?
  • To whom should I express admiration to?

The Creator God

The Creator in Gen 1:1 is our Father in Heaven.

Matthew 6:9 (NKJV)  In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

The Creator in Gen 1:1 has revealed Himself in the OT to the Jews.

Exodus 17:14-16 (NKJV) 14  Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.” 15  And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-LORD-Is-My-Banner; 16  for he said, “Because the LORD has sworn: the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

Jehovah Nissi

Psalm 23:1 (NKJV)  The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Adonay Ro’y

Though we use the word LORD God or other variations, He has a Holy name.

Exodus 6:2-3 (ASV) 2  And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am Jehovah: 3  and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, as God Almighty; but by my name Jehovah I was not known to them.

Isaiah 42:8 (KJV)  I am the LORD (Yĕhovah): that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Y H W H, Tetragrammaton. “Yahweh” (YAH-way), “Yehowah”, “Yahu-weh”, “Jehovah.”

Our Father in Heaven is Elohim class of beings.

John 4:24 (NKJV)  God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Our Father in Heaven is not Allah.

Allah, though Elohim class, is NOT our creator.

Allah is not our God.

Created things are not our God

Psalm 8:1-5 (NKJV) 1  O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! 2  Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger. 3  When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4  What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? 5  For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.

Amos 5:8 (ASV)  seek him that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth (Jehovah is his name);

In the NT, God has given Himself a new name

Hebrews 1:1-4 (NKJV) 1  God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2  has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3  who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4  having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Philippians 2:9 (NKJV)  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

Word of God

John 1:1-3 (NKJV) 1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2  He was in the beginning with God. 3  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

John 1:14 (NKJV)  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

Revelation 19:13 (NKJV)  He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Hebrews 4:12-13 (NKJV) 12  For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13  And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)  Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

What is the Word of God?

Luke 10:1 (NKJV)  After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.

Luke 10:1 (ASV)  Now after these things the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself was about to come.

Luke 10:1 (KJV)   After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.

Luke 10:1 (NLT)  The Lord now chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them ahead in pairs to all the towns and places he planned to visit.

Luke 10:1 (NIV)  After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go.

Luke 10:1 (ESV)  After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them on ahead of him, two by two, into every town and place where he himself was about to go.

Translation vs Interpretation

Word for Word vs Thought for Thought.

Dynamic equivalence-sense for sense translation-meanings of phrases or whole sentences-with readability in mind.

Formal equivalence as word-for-word translation

Problem is that meanings change.

  • What’s up?
  • Good Morning.
  • Sometimes we don’t properly understand the meanings because of lack of education in that language.
  • Evil, Evening, Suffer, bishopric (Acts 1:20)

1 Samuel 4:9 (NKJV)  Be strong and conduct yourselves like men, you Philistines, that you do not become servants of the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Conduct yourselves like men, and fight!”

  • 1 Samuel 4:9 (KJV) Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines,,,.
  • God bless you and “forsake you.”

Relationship Vs Logos

2 Peter 1:20-21 (NKJV) 20  knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 21  for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Creation and Separation of Mankind.

Creation

Genesis 1:26-27 (NKJV) 26  Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27  So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

Separation

Genesis 2:22-23 (NKJV) 22  Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23  And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man.”

For mankind to know and realize

Genesis 2:18-20 (NKJV) 18  And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” 19  Out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name. 20  So Adam gave names to all cattle, to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field. But for Adam there was not found a helper comparable to him.

The Work

Genesis 2:8 (NKJV) The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.
Genesis 2:15 (NKJV)  Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.

God rested on the 7th day.

Genesis 2:1-3 (NKJV) 1  Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2  And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3  Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

In Christ we are a new creation

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

In Christ new creation united in body, but also in spirit neither male nor female.

Galatians 3:26-29 (NKJV) 26  For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. 27  For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28  There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29  And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Luke 20:33-36 (NKJV) 33  Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife does she become? For all seven had her as wife.” 34  And Jesus answered and said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35  But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36  nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

All in faith

Galatians 3:22-25 (NKJV) 22  But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23  But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24  Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25  But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
