How do I pray?

Pastor, how do I pray? I don’t know how to pray. When I pray I feel nothing. Do you want to experience God?

Yes, I have give some of you a guide to pray modeled on the Tabernacle of Moses, the pattern of which was shown to Moses by God Himself.

  • Hebrews 8:5 (NKJV)  who serve the copy and shadow of the heavenly things, as Moses was divinely instructed when he was about to make the tabernacle. For He said, “See that you make all things according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.”

However, as a born again Christian, washed by the Blood of Jesus Christ, you have the right to ask for the promised Holy Spirit and for the gift of tongues.

  • 1 Corinthians 14:4-5 (NKJV) 4  He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. 5  I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.
  • Romans 8:26-28 (NKJV) 26  Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27  Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
  • 1 Corinthians 14:18 (NKJV)  I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;

Jesus said “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24 (NKJV)

  • 1 Corinthians 14:2 (NKJV)  For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

Remember that speaking in tongues is a gift, and not a learned practice. So desire this gift. Ask the your heavenly Father for it.
