The Fall of Man Part 2

2021 02 21

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)  So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Genesis 3:8 (NKJV)  And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Hearing is not faith.

Hearing is physical.

If our study of the Bible does not lead us to a deeper relationship, an encounter, with God, then it simply is adding to our tendency towards spiritual pride.

John 5:39 (NKJV)  You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

John 5:10-12 (NKJV) 10  The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” 11  He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.'” 12  Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?”

John 10:16 (NKJV)  And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.

It is His voice that we are to know. We must diligently study the Scriptures, remembering that it is in knowing Jesus that the greatest truths of Scripture will be understood.

Ephesians 3:19 (NKJV)  to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:19 (GW)  You will know Christ’s love, which goes far beyond any knowledge. I am praying this so that you may be completely filled with God.

We can and must know the God of the Bible by personal experience. Do not fear deception, study the Word diligently, but always remember that Jesus Christ did not say, “My sheep will know my book.”

It is His voice that we are to know.

Romans 8:14 (NKJV)  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Daniel’s prophecies so accurate that people thought it was written after.

Genesis 3

Satan

The serpent deceived Adam and Eve to eat the forbidden; God curses the earth; Adam and Eve sent out of the Garden of Eden

Genesis 3:1 (NKJV)  Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”

Genesis 3:1 The Serpent was more subtle.

Mankind

Two Trees

  1. Tree of life
  2. Tree of the Knowledge of good and evil

Eden

The Hebrew word `Eden means pleasure.

The Septuagint translates Eden as paradise ,”orchard” and “forest”.

Death

Genesis 3:6 (NKJV)  So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Romans 5:17 (NKJV)  For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.)

Eat of it.

Disobeying the Word of God. Lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, pride of life.

Bear fruit.

1 John 2:15-17 (NKJV) 15  Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16  For all that is in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–is not of the Father but is of the world. 17  And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Curse upon Satan  (3:15)

Genesis 3:15 (NKJV)  And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

Revelation 20:2 (NKJV)  He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years;

Promise of a redeemer and redemption

Revelation 17:14 (NKJV)  These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those who are with Him are called, chosen, and faithful.”’

Three groups

Called

Genesis 12:1 (NKJV)  Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

Jude 1:1 (NKJV)  Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, To those who are called, sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:

Egypt, Moses, Balaam

Chosen

John 15:16 (NKJV)  You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)  But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;

Faithful

Revelation 1:5 (NKJV)  and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,

Witness transliteration: martyrs.

by analogy a “martyr

Revelation 13:7 (NKJV)  It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.

Curse upon the woman  (3:16)

Genesis 3:16 (NKJV)  To the woman He said: “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.”

Your desire shall be to be the head, the role of your husband. -Part of the curse

Submission..

Authority.

And he shall rule over you.

Curse upon man and the earth  (3:17-19)

Genesis 3:17-19 (NKJV) 17  Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’: “Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. 18  Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. 19  In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return.”

Ground is cursed because Adam obeyed his wife and not God.

Romans 8:18-22 (NKJV) 18  For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19  For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20  For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21  because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22  For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.

Toil – provision

Thorns and Thistles – unuseful and hurtful plants

Desolation and suffering, basically evils,

Matthew 7:16-17 (NKJV) 16  You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17  Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.

John 19:5 (NKJV)  Then Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said to them, “Behold the Man!”

Psalm 103:4 (NKJV)  Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

Proverbs 10:22 (NKJV)  The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.

Out of Eden

Genesis 3:22-24 (NKJV) 22  Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”– 23  therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24  So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.

  • Guard from Elohim
  • Live forever

2 Timothy 1:10 (NKJV)  but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel,
