  • Remembrance brings Blessing.

    Two differing remembrances.

Psalm 143:4-6 NKJV Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me; My heart within me is distressed. [5] I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your works; I muse on the work of Your hands. [6] I spread out my hands to You; My soul longs for You like a thirsty land. Selah   Ecclesiastes 5:20 NKJV For he will not dwell unduly on the days of his life, because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart.

    Good old days

    • That is earthly remembrance.

    There is a spiritual remembrance.

Deuteronomy 8:18 NKJV “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Testimonies are a source of remembrance.

    • Testimonies, remembrance and walk boldly by faith.
    • Gifts vs willingness to move into what Jesus has won for us
Psalm 119:111 NKJV  Your testimonies I have taken as a heritage forever, For they are the rejoicing of my heart.
    • God’s work so far
1 Samuel 7:12 NKJV Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the LORD has helped us.”
    • What God has done so far.
    • For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Gifts (see & hear) vs willingness (testify)

    • Sowing seed 10 years example
    • Can’t hear or see?
Isaiah 30:21 NKJV Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.
    • Then remember
Mark 8:17-18 But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened? [18] Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

    Why do you reason?

    • basic principles of the world vs God’s principles.
Colossians 2:4-10 NKJV Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. [5] For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. [6] As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, [7] rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. [8] Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. [9] For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; [10] and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.
    • Reasoning, earthly wisdom, logic equals unbelief.

    Do you not remember?

    • Eyes, ears remembrance.
Luke 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it-

The cost to pay is remembrance of what the Lord has done.

    • That He will do it again.
    • Trust Him, don’t turn to or seek the world.
Psalm 143:4-6 NLT I am losing all hope; I am paralyzed with fear. [5] I remember the days of old. I ponder all your great works and think about what you have done. [6] I lift my hands to you in prayer. I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. Interlude
    • The cost of doing something about remembrance of what the Lord has done in the past.
    • Then walking in faith.
    • Not a formula, don’t put God in a box.
Mark 8:15 “Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod.”
    • Pharisees Religious, Herod – Political. Both had fear of man
    • Be guided by the Holy Spirit.
Psalm 77:12 AMP I will meditate on all Your works And thoughtfully consider all Your [great and wondrous] deeds.   Psalm 107:41-43 NKJV Yet He sets the poor on high, far from affliction, And makes their families like a flock. [42] The righteous see it and rejoice, And all iniquity stops its mouth. [43] Whoever is wise will observe these things, And they will understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
    • Bring to your remembrance.

This is the right king of remembrance.

Psalm 27:13-14 NKJV I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. [14] Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
