I. The Thousand-Fold Blessing Of Divine Increase

The promise exceeds normal human reasoning.

Deuteronomy 1:11 (New King James Version): “May the LORD God of your fathers make you a thousand times more numerous than you are, and bless you as He has promised you!”

This statement is direct.

  • This is not a metaphor for minor improvement.
  • This is God’s stated intention.
  • This declaration applies to God’s people now.
  • It applies to individuals, families, and the church body.

The promise is often not received because internal resistance prevents acceptance.

2 Corinthians 1:20 NKJV For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

Ii. Infinite Thinking

The primary obstruction to receiving God’s promise is finite thinking.

Finite thinking is defined as follows:

  1. Evaluation based only on visible resources.
  2. Reasoning limited to present conditions.
  3. Judgment formed by human measurement only.

These conclusions are invalid.

  • They are based only on what is seen.
  • They exclude the nature of God.

Infinite thinking requires faith in Jesus Christ and the true God.

Hebrews 11:6 NKJV But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

  • It is impossible to please God without faith.
  • Anyone who comes to God must believe that He is real and that He rewards those who truly and earnestly look for Him.

1 Samuel 30:6-7 NKJV David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. [7] Then David said to Abiathar … “Please bring the ephod here to me.”

  • David was extremely upset because the people were talking about killing him with stones. They were angry and heartbroken because their sons and daughters had been taken.
  • But David found strength and courage by trusting in the LORD his God.
  1. He did that first, then after with faith, He asked God what to do
  2. Then David asked Abiathar the priest, the son of Ahimelech, to bring him the ephod, and Abiathar brought it to him.

God is not restricted by human limitation.

  • God does not require visible resources.
  • God does not depend on logical pathways.

Finite thinking attempts to contain an infinite God within finite conditions.

  • This attempt always fails.

III. God’s Entourage

In the book of Job, God challenges Job’s limited human perspective by describing the construction of the universe.

  • He mentions some beings—who were watching the foundation being poured.

Job 38:4–7 “Where were you … when the morning stars were singing together and all the sons of God shouted for joy?”

  • The the sons of God aren’t humans, because humans hadn’t been created yet.

They are Elohim class

  • We see this most clearly in the Psalms, where the Bible describes God presiding over a meeting.

Psalm 82:1 “God (elohim) stands in the divine assembly; he administers judgment in the midst of the gods (elohim).”

  • In this verse, the first “God” is singular (He stands), but He is standing in the middle of a pluralgroup of elohim.

Genesis 1:26 KJV And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness

  • God was speaking to the elohim class of beings.
  • Many of us grew up hearing that before the world began, there was only God.
  • While that is true in terms of his eternal nature, the Bible actually reveals that God wasn’t “alone”—He had a family.

Ephesians 3:15 NKJV from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

IV. Psalms of Deliverance

1 Samuel 16:14,23 NLT Now the Spirit of the LORD had left Saul, and the LORD sent a tormenting spirit that filled him with depression and fear.

[23] And whenever the tormenting spirit from God troubled Saul, David would play the harp. Then Saul would feel better, and the tormenting spirit would go away.

  1. The songs that King David wrote and played worked because:
  • David was anointed
  • David lived in covenant faithfulness
  • The music expressed trust and worship
  • The presence of God overflowed in his cup
  • God’s presence displaced the hostile spirit
  1. Elisha

2 Kings 3:15 NKJV But now bring me a musician.” Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

  • The musician was needed to clarify the atmosphere for him to hear from God

Psalm 3 — Deliverance from Overwhelming Fear

Psalm 27 — Deliverance through God’s Presence

Psalm 35 — Deliverance from Hostile Spiritual and Human Forces

Psalm 91 — Comprehensive Protection from All Threats

  • They do not teach spellcasting, witchcraft.
  • They teach dwelling, trusting, and yielding authority to God.
  • From fear → to trust → to divine defense → to total protection

All this helps us understand the Bible as Jews at the time that Jesus came first did.

V. The Map the Mirror and the Master

Age of Exploration → Secularism & Post-Christianity

  • Cut-Flower Culture.
  • Relative truth instead of God’s absolute truth

2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

  • Wrong mirror

Colossians 2:8 NKJV Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.

VI. Required Response is Faith in God

  1. Faith accepts God’s character as good.
  2. Faith accepts God’s intention as generous.
  3. Every promise is confirmed in Jesus Christ.
  4. Access is granted by identity, not achievement.
  5. entitlement is secure – guaranteed in Christ.
  6. Do not evaluate God’s promise by current conditions.
  7. Base expectation on God’s Word.
  8. Pray according to your identity as a child of God.
  9. Expect increase personally, relationally, and corporately.
  10. Be Holy Spirit filles at all times.

Romans 15:13 (New King James Version) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. (Hebrews 13:16)
