Revelation of the will of God but in stages

  • Acts 14:9 This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed,
  • Rightly dividing the word of truth, revealed in stages.
  • 2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Subject to change

First the blade, then the head, after that the full grain in the head.

  • Head in the right place
  • 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward manis being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are
  • 2 Corinthians 4:18 [KJV] While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are
  • Temporal vs Eternal
  • Things which are seen vs at the things which are not seen.
  • 2 Corinthians 4:13–14 13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you.
  • 2 Peter 1:19 (KJV) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
  • Revelation 19:10 (KJV) And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Faith

  • Romans 10:16–17 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Revelatory word from God

  • You can’t fabricate it
  • You can’t fast for it
  • We tarry or wait to hear from God, our father in Heaven.

More that 1 kind of hearing – spiritual hearing

  • John 6:63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.
  • From the head to the heart
  • Unless you hear with your heart, unless it is touched by the Lord, it is not spiritual faith.
  • Romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
  • Emotional vs real faith – Worldly sorrow vs true repentance producing fruit of the Spirit
  • Born again? New creation?
  • Matthew 16:15–17 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.
  • God is Spirit-Revealed.
  • Your faith determines your words
  • Your faith determines your actions
  • Mark 10:46–52 46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” 48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” 49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.” 50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus. 51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.” 52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.

Jesus the human/healer – knowledge

Jesus the Messiah – Revelatory

  • Faith that made blind Bartimaeus to see again originated because of a revelation from God
  • Word of God is a basis, but this is a base for a relationship with God.
  • Psalm 127:1 Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.
  • Faith changes as his instructions change, not a formula.
  • Continual, not static
  • Faith is based on a relationship with God, our Heavenly Father.
  • 1 Chronicles 14:10 And David inquired of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?” The LORD said to him, “Go up, for I will deliver them into your hand.”
  • 1 Chronicles 14:13-14 Then the Philistines once again made a raid on the valley. Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go up after them; circle around them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.
  • Wait on the Lord for a Word from Him to speak.

Meditation – stages

  • Spirit of Christ vs The Holy Spirit (stages)
  • The Holy Spirit will speak unto you.
    • Your dead spirit hidden by the Spirit of Christ.
    • The infilling of the Holy Spirit.
  • 1 Peter 1:10–12 10 Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, 11 searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow. 12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.
  • Colossians 3:3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
  • Philippians 1:19–21 19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
  • 2 Timothy 4:22 The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
  • Philippians 4:7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
  • Then launch out to the deep – throwing aside his garment,
  • Luke 5:4 When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
  • John 4:24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

This is saying that communication with God is Spirit to spirit, not brain to brain or mouth to ear, the way we communicate in the physical realm.

  • The Lord speaks to our spirits, not in words, but in thoughts and impressions.
  • Then our spirits speak to us in words like, “I think the Lord wants me to do this or that.”
  • The Lord doesn’t typically say “You do this or that,” but He will impress your spirit to do something, and then your spirit says, “I think I should do . . .”

Therefore, we often miss the leading of the Lord, thinking it’s our own thoughts.

  • The Lord warned Andrew Wommack of that and saved his life,
    • not by saying, “Don’t go to Costa Rica,” but,
    • by communicating to my spirit and taking away his desire to go.
    • The plane he was going to travel in crashed killing all on borad.

That is one of the main ways the Lord speaks to us; that kind of communication shouldn’t be ignored.

  • John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
  • Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
  • Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
  • John 16:15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
